MARINA ZIOLKOWSKI
Daughter and granddaughter of American screenwriters, Marina Ziolkowski learns to tell stories from a very young age. She studies drama (Conservatoire, Studio d’Asnières, Cours Florent) and creates experimental videos.
She moves to Los Angeles and shoots her first short film, "But You Look So Good," starring Natasha Bassett (Elvis) and Dey Young (Pretty Woman), which wins several awards.
Returning to Paris, she directs "19" starring Marie Denarnaud (Les corps impatients, Les Adoptés), selected at the French Academy Awards for Best Short Film in 2021.
Her third short film, "Extra Large," featuring feminist activist DJ Barbara Butch, is a quirky fairy tale selected for the 2023 Paris Courts Devant festival, supported by CNC Talent, and broadcast on Canal+.
Her fourth short film is in post-production starring Roxane Mesquida (Sheitan, Kaboom, Rubber) and Mathieu Demy (Mytho, Rien à perdre, Le bureau des légendes), once again supported by CNC Talent and the Réunion Region.
Marina tackles difficult subjects (domestic violence, beauty standards, motherhood, invisible illness) through strong female characters, always with a touch of humor. She enjoys blending genres and techniques; this hybrid artistic universe is part of her identity as a director.
Marina is currently writing her first feature film, "Destination Rose Bonbon" (Annual Selection 2021 - Le Groupe Ouest, CNC Development Grant 2023).
